Rally & Roam

Standard doubles

The game the FIP rules describe: two pairs on a 20 by 10 m court, an underarm serve into the diagonal box, one bounce before the walls, and games, sets and matches scored as agreed beforehand.

ما الذي يتغير عن المباراة العادية

None. This is the reference format: every other page lists its changes against it. The FIP rules leave two choices to the organiser: how deuce is played (advantage, star point or golden point) and whether a shorter set or a deciding tie-break is used.

القواعد

Each pair keeps to its own side of the net. Any player can stand anywhere on their side, except the server, who serves from behind the service line. A coin toss decides the start. The winners choose to serve or receive, or choose an end, or ask the other pair to choose first. The server bounces the ball in their own service area behind the line and hits it at or below waist height, with at least one foot on the ground. The serve crosses the net diagonally and must bounce in the receiver's box. Lines count as in. The server has two attempts. A serve that bounces in the box and then hits the mesh before its second bounce is a fault. A serve that hits the glass after bouncing in the box is good. The receiver must let the serve bounce before hitting it. After that, either player of a pair may hit the ball, but only one of them, and only once. In a rally the ball may be volleyed, or played after one bounce on the floor, including after it has come off the glass or the mesh. Your shot must reach the other side without first touching their walls or mesh. You may play it off your own glass so that it then goes over the net. You lose the point if you touch the net or posts, let the ball bounce twice, hit it into your own mesh, are hit by the ball, or hit it twice. Each player serves a whole game in turn. The order chosen at the start of a set cannot change until the next set, and each player receives in the same box for the whole set. Pairs change ends after the first, third and every following odd game of each set, and every six points in a tie-break. Games run 15, 30, 40, game. Six games with a lead of two win a set, with a tie-break at six-all, and two sets win the match unless the organiser announced a shorter format.

طريقة التنظيم

Announce the scoring before the match: deuce format, set length and what happens at one set all. Toss the coin and let the winners choose. Note who serves first for each pair and who receives on the right. Allow the three-minute warm-up the FIP rules require, then start. Keep to the time limits: 20 seconds between points, 90 seconds at a change of ends, 120 seconds between sets, and no rest after the first game of a set or during a tie-break. Where there is no umpire, the usual club practice is that each pair calls the ball on its own side and the server calls the score before each point, server's score first.

أسئلة

How many players are in a padel match?

Four, in two pairs. Singles exists as an informal game, but the FIP rules describe doubles.

Can I hit the ball straight onto the opponents' glass?

No. Your shot must bounce on their floor first. Only after that bounce can it hit their walls or mesh.

Does the serve have to be underarm?

Yes. The ball must be hit at or below waist height after you bounce it, with at least one foot on the ground.
