Rally & Roam

The serve

Stand behind the service line, bounce the ball once behind it, hit it at or below your waist with a foot on the ground, and send it diagonally into the receiver's box. The lines count as in.

Where you stand

Stand behind the service line on your side of the centre line, with at least one foot on the ground when you hit the ball. Do not tread on the service line or the centre line, and do not walk or jump while serving.

Bounce, then hit

Drop the ball and let it bounce once on your side, behind the service line, before you strike it. The ball has to be at or below your waist at the moment you hit it. A miss when you meant to hit it counts as a serve.

Where it has to land

The serve crosses the net diagonally and must bounce in the receiver's service box. A ball that lands on any line of that box is good. After the bounce it may hit the glass and stay in play, but if it touches the side mesh before bouncing a second time, the serve is a fault.

Two chances

You have two serves for each point. A fault on the first gives you a second; two faults in a row lose the point. The faults, the mesh and lets each have their own page in this rule book.

Yes. A serve that bounces on any line of the receiver's service box is good.

Can a serve hit the glass after the bounce?
