Playing the ball off your own walls

You may hit the ball into your own glass so it rebounds over the net, as long as it then lands in their court. If it falls on your side, hits your mesh or hits their wall first, you lose the point.

What is allowed

Hitting the ball into your own back or side wall so that it rebounds over the net is legal. The ball must then land on the other pair's floor before touching any of their walls. This is the contrapared.

When it goes wrong

You lose the point if, after your shot, the ball touches your own floor, your own mesh or anything outside the court on your side. You also lose it if the ball crosses but hits their glass or mesh before it bounces. The same applies if your shot hits an object lying on your own floor, such as a spare ball.

The ball that does not cross

A shot off your own glass that hangs and drops on your side, or hits the net and falls back, loses the point straight away. Your partner cannot play it again: each pair has one hit.
