Your return from outside the court

A ball played from outside must still be a good return: it has to bounce on the other pair's floor before touching their walls, their mesh or anything that is not part of the court. It can come back over the side wall or through an opening.

Same rules, different place

Where outside play is allowed, a ball hit from outside is a good return if it meets every requirement a return from inside would. The usual one that matters: it must land on their floor first.

Over the wall or through the gap

The ball can come back in through the opening or over the side wall. A high lob back over the glass gives you time to get back in; a ball driven back through the opening is quicker but has less room.

What loses it

A return that hits their glass or mesh before it bounces, or touches anything outside the court such as a light pole, loses the point. So does one that never makes it back to their floor.

Preguntas

Does the ball have to come back through the door in padel?

No. It can come back over the side wall or through the opening, as long as it then bounces on the other pair's floor before touching their walls.
