Serving the golden point or star point
On a deciding point the receiving pair choose which side receives, and the server serves diagonally to that player. In a mixed match the receiver must be the same sex as the server, so the choice is in effect made for them.
The receivers choose
On a golden point or a star point, the receiving pair decide whether the ball is served to the right or to the left. They cannot swap places to receive it, so in practice they are choosing which of the two receives.
Where the server stands
The serve still has to cross the court diagonally. Whichever box the receivers pick, the server serves from the half of the court diagonally opposite it, whichever side the last point was served from.
Mixed matches
In mixed padel the player receiving the deciding point must be the same sex as the server. As the receivers cannot swap positions, the side is set by where that player has been receiving.
Advantage scoring
With classic advantage scoring there is no deciding point, so the serve simply keeps alternating from side to side.
