Data licences and the credits you must show

Every field in the API says where it came from, and every item carries the credits to show with it. OpenStreetMap fields are under the ODbL.

In breve

We only serve data we are allowed to pass on to you, and every item tells you where each field came from and what credit to show. The Data and licences section of the Developers page lists every source and its licence.

Where the data comes from

- Our own data: bookings and court availability, reviews and ratings, level ratings, and the destinations and events we write. - Clubs and coaches: what they give us when they join or claim their listing. - Open data whose licence allows it: Overture Maps (CDLA Permissive 2.0), Foursquare OS Places (Apache 2.0), the Colombia padel club census by Comando Construcciones SAS (CC BY 4.0) and OpenStreetMap (Open Database Licence 1.0).

How it shows in each answer

Every club, coach, event and destination has two extra parts:

- sources: each field name and the source it came from, for example "name": "club" - attribution: one entry per source used, with its name, licence, a link where there is one, the notice to show and the fields it covers

When you show the data to people, show those credits next to it or on a page linked from it.

OpenStreetMap and the ODbL

Fields from OpenStreetMap are under the Open Database Licence. If you publish a database built from them, you must offer it under the same licence and keep the credit "© OpenStreetMap contributors". Our club database itself also stays free to download under that licence.

What is never in the API

We do not serve travel guide text from Wikivoyage, descriptions taken from club websites, photos from Wikimedia Commons or Mapillary, weather and climate data, or anything from Google or other paid sources. That is why some things you see on our own pages, such as photos and destination guides, are not in the feed.

Keeping copies

The API terms let you keep a copy of answers for up to 30 days to make your product faster. Availability changes all the time, so check it again before you show a court as free. The terms also cover endorsement and marketing rules.
