Time between points, changeovers and sets
You have 20 seconds between points, 90 seconds at a change of ends and 120 seconds between sets. There is no rest after the first game of a set, and food and drink wait for the changes.
Between points
At most 20 seconds from the end of one point to the serve of the next. No food or drink between points.
Changes of ends
At most 90 seconds, except after the first game of each set, when you change without a rest. In a tie-break the change is about 20 seconds.
Between sets
At most 120 seconds at the end of a set.
Continuous play
Once the first serve is struck, play is continuous. A match is never held up so a player can get their breath back or take advice. A reasonable time is allowed to replace broken clothing, shoes or kit, and the organiser may allow a set number of toilet breaks.
Breaking the time rules
The first time limit broken earns a warning. After that, a server loses their first serve and a receiver loses a point, then further points, at the referee's call.
