Use and replace recovery codes
You get 8 single-use recovery codes when you turn on an authenticator app. Each signs you in once if you lose your phone.
Kort fortalt
When you turn on an authenticator app, we give you 8 recovery codes. Each one signs you in once if you lose your phone or cannot open the app. Keep them somewhere safe, such as a password manager.
Save them
We show your codes once, straight after setup. Choose Download codes or Copy codes and store them safely. We keep only a scrambled copy, so we cannot show them to you again.
Sign in with a recovery code
1. Sign in with your email and password. 2. On the code screen, choose Lost your phone? Use a recovery code. 3. Enter one of your codes and choose Sign in.
That code is then used up. We tell you how many you have left.
See how many are left
Open Settings, Security. Under Authenticator app it shows how many recovery codes you have left.
Make new codes
1. Open Settings, Security. 2. Choose Make new recovery codes. 3. Enter your password and choose Make new codes. 4. Save the new set.
Your old recovery codes stop working straight away.
Lost your phone and your codes?
Contact us and tell us what happened. Never send your password or codes in a message.
Recovery codes only apply to an authenticator app. If we email you a sign-in code instead, see sign-in codes by email.
