The no-let serve

The FIP rules keep the let: a serve that clips the net and lands in the box is served again. Some leagues and social formats play no-let, where that serve is simply in play. Treat it as a local rule and agree it first.

Wat er anders is dan bij een standaardwedstrijd

Net serves that land in the box are played instead of replayed. Not part of the FIP rules: a local agreement.

De regels

FIP rule: a serve that touches the net or posts and lands in the receiver's box is a net serve and is served again, as long as it does not touch the mesh before its second bounce. FIP rule: a net serve that then hits a player, or anything they wear or carry, is also served again. FIP rule: a let on the first serve replays the whole point, with two serves; a let on the second serve replays only the second serve. No-let, where agreed: a serve that clips the net and lands in the box is in play and must be returned. No-let, where agreed: a serve that clips the net and lands outside the box is still a fault, and so is one that bounces in the box and then hits the mesh. Lets for other reasons, such as the receiver not being ready or a ball rolling onto the court, still apply.

Zo organiseer je het

Announce no-let in the event rules if you use it. Remind players at the start; the instinct to stop on a net cord is strong.
