The court: size, walls and net
A padel court is 20 m long and 10 m wide inside its walls, with service lines 6.95 m from the net and a net 88 cm high in the middle. The ends are 3 m of wall topped with 1 m of mesh.
Size and lines
The playing area is a rectangle 20 m long and 10 m wide, measured inside the walls. The net splits it in two. On each side a service line runs across the court 6.95 m from the net, and a centre line splits the area between the net and the service line into two service boxes. Every line is 5 cm wide.
The net
The net is 10 m long, 88 cm high in the middle and 92 cm at the ends, hung on a cable between two posts no higher than 1.05 m. The outside of each post lines up with the side of the court. The net reaches the floor and the posts with no gaps.
The walls at the ends
Each end is 4 m high: 3 m of wall, usually glass, with 1 m of metal mesh on top. The wall must give an even bounce, which is why glass or smooth hard walls are used.
The sides
The side walls come in two layouts. In the classic one, the glass steps down: 3 m high for the first 2 m from each end, then 2 m high for the next 2 m. In the all-glass layout, the glass runs 3 m high for the first 4 m from each end with no step. Mesh fills the rest of the side, up to 3 m in the middle and 4 m near the ends.
Height above the court
Indoors there must be at least 6 m of clear height over the whole court, and new clubs are encouraged to leave 8 m. Lights hang at least 6 m above the floor.
