The serve and the mesh

After a good bounce in the box a serve may hit the glass, but if it touches the side mesh before bouncing again, it is a fault. On a court with no outside play, a serve that flies out through a door is a fault too.

Glass yes, mesh no

A serve that bounces in the receiver's box and then hits the back or side glass is good: play it like any other ball. If after the bounce it touches the metal mesh or its frame before bouncing a second time, the serve is a fault. This is the one moment in padel where the mesh is treated differently from the glass.

Out through a door

If a serve bounces in the box and then leaves the court directly through an opening, on a court without a safety area where outside play is not allowed, it is a fault.

After the net

A serve that clips the net or a post, lands in the box and then touches the mesh is a fault, not a let.

Perguntas

Is a serve that hits the mesh a fault?

Yes, if it touches the mesh after bouncing in the box. If it hits the glass instead, it is good.
