Deaf padel
Some federations, including France's, run padel tournaments for deaf and hard of hearing players, as women's, men's or mixed events. The rules of play are the normal ones; the federation sets the hearing threshold.
Vad som skiljer sig från en vanlig match
Entry is limited to players who meet the federation's hearing threshold. Nothing changes in the rules of play.
Reglerna
The FIP rules of play apply in full. FFT eligibility: a hearing loss of at least 55 decibels in the better ear, averaged over 500, 1,000 and 2,000 hertz. FFT eligibility: an audiogram made by an ear, nose and throat specialist, dated 2017 or later, sent to the federation; first-time players must send it at least 15 days before the tournament. FFT events are women's, men's or specifically mixed. FFT tournaments for deaf players can be graded up to P100, with up to four P250 events a year chosen by the federation. Points count in the normal FFT men's or women's ranking; there is no separate deaf ranking. Deaf and hard of hearing players may enter any other FFT tournament as well.
Så kör du det
Send the entry list to the federation so it can check each player's audiogram. Brief players on visible signals. Agreeing hand signals for line calls, lets and the score is club practice, not a rule. Make sure the umpire, if there is one, can signal decisions visibly.
