Double elimination
Every pair can lose once: after a first defeat you drop into a losers' draw, and a second defeat puts you out.
Qué cambia respecto a un partido estándar
You are out after two defeats, not one. There are two draws running at the same time. The final may need a second match.
Las reglas
All pairs start in the winners' draw. Winners stay in the winners' draw. A first defeat sends a pair to the losers' draw. A defeat in the losers' draw puts a pair out. The winners' draw produces one unbeaten finalist and the losers' draw produces the other. In a full double elimination, the unbeaten pair must lose twice, so if it loses the final a second, deciding final is played. The organiser may instead use a single final, but must announce it beforehand.
Cómo organizarlo
Make the winners' draw with seeds and byes. Prepare the losers' draw so first-round losers have places to drop into, and later losers join at the right round. Schedule the two draws so pairs get fair rest between matches. Announce the final rule and play it out.
