Super tie-break to ten
An FIP alternative to the third set and a common decider in amateur padel: at one set all, a tie-break to ten points, won by two, decides the match.
Cosa cambia rispetto a una partita standard
The third set is replaced by one tie-break to ten points. The match ends with the super tie-break.
Le regole
The first two sets are played as normal, or as short sets if the event uses them. At one set all, a super tie-break replaces the third set. Points in a tie-break are called zero, 1, 2, 3 and so on. The player whose turn it is to serve serves only the first point, from the right side. The next two points are served by the other pair, starting from the left, keeping the set's serving order. After that each player serves two points in a row, in the same order, until the tie-break ends. Pairs change ends every six points, with no rest; the FIP rules allow 20 seconds for each change. The first pair to ten points with a lead of two wins the super tie-break and the match: 10 to 8 wins, 10 to 9 does not.
Come organizzarlo
Announce it in the event details and the draw sheet. At one set all, allow the set break, then start the super tie-break. Change ends after points 6, 12 and 18.
