Groups then knockout
Pairs play a round robin in groups; the top places in each group go into a knockout that decides the title. The FIP World Padel Championships use this shape for national teams.
Co się zmienia względem standardowego meczu
You are guaranteed several matches before any knockout. Results in the group decide where you start in the knockout. The event can use shorter scoring in the groups and full scoring in the knockout.
Zasady
Pairs are placed in groups, often with seeds spread so the strongest pairs are in different groups. Each group plays a round robin. The announced number of places from each group qualify, using the table and its tie-breaks. Qualifiers enter a knockout draw as published, often winners against runners-up of another group. In the knockout, the winner of each match goes on and the loser is out of the title race. The winner of the final is champion. A match for third place, or play-offs for lower places, are optional.
Jak to zorganizować
Seed the strongest pairs into different groups and draw the rest. Play the group round robins and post the tables as results come in. Apply the announced tie-breaks to settle qualifiers. Place the qualifiers in the knockout as published, keeping pairs from the same group apart in the first round where possible. Play the knockout to the final, plus any place play-offs.

How do padel group stages work?
Pairs play everyone in their group, and the top places go on to a knockout.
How many pairs qualify from each group?
It depends on the event. With four groups, two from each makes a neat quarter-final draw of eight.
